Goofy the dog

Thank god these days it's law to have a dog harnessed when it's on the back of a truck.

This is a true story I was once told. I'm thankful the dog wasn't hurt at all.

Someone I once worked for had a big, dumb, doberman cross. He had the very appropiate name 'Goofy'. One time it was in the back of the his table-top truck as he was driving down the spit hill in sydney. It wasn't a bare tray, it did have sides on the truck. He knew the dog wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so he slowed right down and kept a close eye on it in the mirror as he was rounding the sharp corners at the top of the spit hill.

He saw the dog sitting in a bolt upright position in the middle of the tray. As he rounded the corner, he saw the dog starting to lean to one side. he started to slow down further, but the corner was sharpening, and to his horror, he saw the dog lean further and further over, until it finally rolled over completely and fell out of the back of the truck.

He looked in the side mirror, and saw sliding down the road, poor Goofy still sitting in the exact same bolt upright position it had assumed in the back of the truck. Sliding down the road, on it's ass, sitting up, looking around in a nonchalent manner, as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening at all.

Goofy suffered only minor abrasions to his arse and his paws. and the owner swore he was never going to put Goofy on the back tray again.
